To the bolded: OK, not mostly. But he did originally join the Hawks as their bass player (after first drawing Ronnie’s attention with his songwriting). He moved to guitar as soon as that slot opened up, but still.

He was a bass player…. For a short time. Plus if he hadn’t given it up, the world would not have had the pleasure to hear Rick Danko!
