Rock & Roll bass for < $500?

So, finances have been rough lately and recently had to sell my Lakland to pay the rent. I need something to replace it with. The project I have going on right now is a straight up rock and roll 3 piece. Sort of Queens of the Stone Age, The Hives sort of stuff. I strictly play with a pick. Which bass would you recommend? Playing through a Markbass Little Mark II. And a Tech 21 VT Bass. I've been looking at:

Epiphone Ripper RI
Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV
Squier VM or CV

Other ideas?

Thanks.

Seriously though, that MIJ Fernandes is an AMAZING bass. I used to own it. If I had a need for a 4 string P I would buy it back.

I totally stand corrected, your suggestions are better indeed.

I'd take a MIM over a Squier CV. I had a neck from a CV go bad already and honestly the construction is not the same in China as the VM's in Indonesia. Not happy to pay more for less quality, thicker plastic finish and a now useless neck.

So.. That being said, the MIM come with a gigbag and used ones go for $200-400 in my town. Did I mention a P bass sounds just about right for that kind of music?
