Double Bass Rockabilly preamp/pickup/microphone advice

Ok so I'm overwhelmed and don't really know where to start. I have a pretty decent setup for most applications, using a Shen sb-80 bass, with an Upton wing piezo, going into the FDeck HPF pre and into my Genz Benz shuttle 6.0 and Velvet Aenema strings. It took some serious tweeking of the eq (treble cut all the way, and mids set around 2k and cut almost all the way - I know it sounds extreme but the end result is pretty good) but I was finally able to tame the finger noise and trebley quality of the sound. Now it's great for folk or jazz stuff, and relatively decent for the new rockabilly group I'm in. The problem is just a lack of fingerboard click on the slap stuff. I tried using a 32 band eq to really tweek the sound and boost the treble in a controlled band to get the click but failed miserably. I'm considering adding a mic, or under the neck transducer of some kind, and a blending preamp, but have no idea what's out there, where to start, what's good and what just doesn't work. I don't want to replace my upton pickup as it is custom fitted to my bridge, but I suppose I would consider it if it were the best option. I'm also open to any other suggestions or ideas you might have. Thanks in advance!

So I wound up buying a K&K upgrade package with the Pro Preamp and Fingerboard Clicky, and stuck with my original Upton Bass Wing Pickup. I'M IN SLAP BASS HEAVEN!!! It's exactly what I needed. I was a little concerned about blowing a couple hundred bucks on something I couldn't try in person but man was it worth it. Took me about a half hour to set up everything the way I want it. I had to bring the treble all the way out on the preamp for the wing pickup and dial back the midrange a touch but I quickly got a good pizz sound and went to work on the clicky. I still haven't permanently affixed the clicky. I may just leave it stuck on there with gaff tape. Anyhow, thanks to the guys at Gollihur for the push, it was absolutely the right call. Of course, now that I'm happy with the sound, my bandmates will hate it. Oh well, I'm psyched. Gotta drop a line to Gollihur and thank them. Thanks!
