Rocktron Utopia B-300

I had one of their smaller units for a while, and though I had very high hopes, I didn't like it. The good was that it seemed to be indestructible. The bad was that it was NOISY and the sounds were uninspiring at best. Maybe the B300 is better, but I wouldn't count on it.

Ok so i bought a Rocktron utopia B300 and its awesome. although my mom works in the string shop for a white house of music and she gets a discount of stuff so I paid 464.64 that's with tax otherwise the cheapest I found was 489.00 on ebay. Anyways the sound of the effects is very good I haven't really figured out how to use everything yet but there's so many options and adjustments I think its well worth it the only put off I've found so far is the volume on a lot of the effects and between the different channels is really drastic. So the clean channel ends up being half the volume of the distorted one and sometimes the distorted channel is pretty quite and then other times the clean channel has almost no mid or hi eq and is twice the volume of the distortion channel. In itself this isn't really an issue because you can go in and change it so that everything is more even but you have to do it to each preset independently and save it. There's a master volume for the pedal board then there are a bunch of other settings that affect volume within each preset if there was some sort of volume control u could use to make everything more uniform it would be perfect. So far though that's my only complaint otherwise I highly recommend this and I don't even like Rocktron at all, there stomp boxes and amps and even the other cheaper utopia multi-effects pedal are crap. this is the only thing they make that I would recommend to anyone. feel free to ask questions ill try to respond best I can with my limited experience with the pedal

I was blown away by the quality of construction and the amount of options available.
Expression pedal, USB, MIDI, effect loop, tons of parameters, global mixer, pristine bypass, clean blend, it's got it all. It looks and feels pro, much better than all other multis on the market.
Unfortunately the sound was really disappointing.
There really aren't many effects available in this box. Distortion, wah, modelization, phaser, chorus, flanger, tremolo, mono pitch shifter, compression, delay/ reverb and that's it.
Compression is powerful but hissy.
Amp and cab models are well thought and efficient.
Distortion is very buzzy, think hive of bees in a box.
Modulations are very clear and cold.
Time effects are once again very tweakable but cold.
The whole tone of this thing reeks of 80s metal, very cold and obnoxious tone.
Parameters are difficult to understand and uneasy to adjust on the fly, obviously thought for studio rather than stage use.
Basically they made a really impressive, 21st century enclosure and pedal board but the sounds are 20 year late. At this price You'd expect a lot better.
Edit : I just went to Rocktron's site. Just listen to the clips they put in the player. I think they illustrate my thoughts very well.

in according with you jazz ad, when you listen the samples, overall de cleans, you might listen some high frequencies extremly annoying like crikets. sometimes this sond are produced by the vibraton's cabinet, but, emulate that digitaly? is a great mistake.

I had a rocktron utopia b100. it's a different but an interesting multi-effects processor. it's got one clean channel and three distortion channels. even though the rocktron utopia b100 has one clean channel it does let you select two different clean channels so you'll be getting two clean channels for the price of one. as for the distortion channels, each distortion channel has a different sound. personally I find the distortion channels to be a little rough and metallic sounding. other than that, It does have great sounding modulation effects. the modulation effects is pretty much the only thing I like from the rocktron utopia b100. I have owned the Rocktron Utopia B-300 for about a year.I love all the sounds and its very versatile and clean.Very solid and they had a price drop on them so they are more affordable .128 fully customizable pre-sets and Built Very solid. I give mine a AAA and a 10+ rating .Invalid Link Removed
Glad you enjoyed the rocktron utopia b300, bootzillasun. I once had a rocktron utopia b100. it was an interesting mulit-effects processor, but it wasn't I was looking for in a multi-effects processor. the only thing that I like from the rocktron utopia b100 is the modulation effects. everything else, I wasn't too amused by it.
