Nice bass tone! Your Avatar reference to "catgut" is great but, so would be "kitty litter" for road kill. My wife's cat is hers, not mineJust stumbled onto this club. Nice to see. I've really enjoyed mine and it sounds just great strung with Chromes—medium scale as I remember, the D'Addario definition of what is "short" scale doesn't leave enough length on these instruments. I was surprised at how well the bass records. Here's a little snippet from quite a while ago played with a pick and recorded directly into GarageBand. Nothing significant, just a drum track and the bass. I keep a small foam pad between the bridge and the bridge pickup, so I'm quite sure that's in play here.

WHOA. THATS AMAZING! This thing kicks @$$!

After extensive bathing of strings in vaseline and chicken grease (only a little, i didn't go ham with the chicken greas) I've achieved the dark thump i'm looking for with ernie ball cobalts. Worth it...
As preliminary preparations, I set up a patch on the Boss GT-1B. It starts with a solid>hollow emulator. I can turn that down once the bass arrives.SNIP
I just ordered one of these Rogues. Listened to some vids, along with vids for the Epiphone ViolaBass. This has more of the sound I’m seeking, and it’s less expensive new by far than even used Epis. So it’s a no brainer. Looking forward to getting it!
