Hi all I have Started playing Bass. I saw many reviews of bass amps and went to test a few out mainly for home use as I use. I decided to get a one of the a Roland Cube xl Bass amps. I ended up getting the CB20XL Bass Cube 20xl 20W amp (Cube). (Both the Roland CB 60XL 60W and Roland CB120XL 120W where just our of my budget).
Has anyone tried this series of amp and have any ideas, tips and tricks.
Foot Switches: the Recommended ones Boss FS-6 for $89 Locally, Boss FS-5U for $59 Locally.
Anyone know if other brands can be used. I can get a Proel PFS22 for $10 This is either a copy / rebranded FS-5U or FS5L dont know. I can't seem to find the Official Proel website with the product on them. or any manuals online. I have also seen diy footswitches is this a good option. (i am not so clued with wiring etc but can do basic stuff like this). Just checking my options I dont mind saving for the Boss FS-6.
Review CB20XL Bass Cube:
After A few days of decent playing and testing, even with my novice skill. I find this amp to be of excellent quality. the versatility of different amps, effects, and eq you can get dial in a great sound for the song you are playing. The pop for that great slap sound, mellow for that crusy lade-back sound, funk / R'N'B groves. The reverb / delay, Chorus / Solo / Poly-Octave. give great effects to any of the amp models. the Comp / Drive had that guts for a more heavy sound. and you can pump up things with gain and volume cranked. the built in tuner is helpful to keep you in tune. the bonus is that it has a nice shape to add that wider fatter tone, added to any effect. The power squeeze is great this brings the amp down 2w From 20-18W useful for practising at home it maintains the overall great sound. The Aux input to jam along with your fav albums from computer / Mp3 player etc is handy. a built in headphone / record out jack is handy, can plug into mixer, sound desk, computer to record or play live. I can't wait to test that. also the effects pedal is nice option can't wait till i saved for one to easily switch effects on and off.
