I had the opportunity to see the Ron Carter Quartet last night at Keystone Korner in Baltimore. It was a super enjoyable evening. Ron is now 85, a super nice guy, and gave a wonderful performance of modern jazz with its foundation in the 60s music we all know him for. Really enjoyed the evening. Keystone Korner is a real treasure to have in Baltimore. Great venue that brings in top tier national acts. Food is also coming from an executive level chef. Ron is playing there again tonight and again tomorrow. If you can make it I would encourage you go to see how this legend has managed to modernize his music.

I know he has owned his 1915(?) Juzek since then... I think this was that bass, but someone else needs to chime in to be certain. I spent most of my attention watching Ron play... and I learned a lot of stuff about... intonation, set order, and other stuff. All was good stuff, but some was enlightening in a technical aspect. ;)
