Having recently learned that Roscoe has been taking orders directly since January, I've been doing a lot of thinking about whether I want to continue being a Roscoe dealer. With a heavy heart, I'm afraid I have reached the conclusion that I do NOT want to continue as a dealer.

So I've got 10 awesome basses here that I just want to move. They're all heavily discounted on my website now. Heck, some of the Customs have over $1200 knocked off.

I'm using my usual method of showing a discount there. The original full price is the price you see, but you can hover over the "Preview (Addition To Cart)" link to see the discounted price pop up. Or you can actually add a bass to the cart to see the discounted price.

To save you that hassle, here are the basses and their sale prices! You can grab them right there on the website. These come with free shipping in the US, but shipping charges would apply outside the US. PM me if you have questions about any of these!

Roscoe Century Standard 4 (Butterscotch) Originally $2520, now just $2099

Roscoe Classic 4JJ (Black) Originally $2675, now just $2199 (this has Honey Badger pickups not included in the original price, but I paid for them so my rock bottom price is a little higher)

I’ve had many of Keith’s basses. They always felt special, but sometimes they sounded sort of bland: so what, they were boutique.

I don’t like the recent “me too” stuff and to go direct when one has any retail dealers is just wack: it’s not a fair business model and I don’t blame you at all for getting out. Is Keith the next Carvin?

I'm sure Keith is just doing what he feels he has to do to survive. I know I haven't been drowning him in orders for the past few years. If the same is true with a lot of his other dealers, then I suspect he may have had no choice but to do what he's doing.

The 2-3 consecutive price hikes over the past several years killed off a bunch of business. And in that same timeframe, they went from having 0 dealers in NC (leaving me as the closest to them) to having 3 or 4 dealers in NC now. My Roscoe sales took a big nosedive as a result, and I don't see any way to turn that around given the current circumstances.

It's sad. They were such a big part of my store at one point. And they are great people to work with, that hasn't changed. Keith is a class act, and I wish him all the best in the future.

Wow. Well, times change I guess. You’ve been a huge part of my Roscoe life. I’ve wondered if they tried to do too much at one time...new building, expensive machines, new line, all within a couple years...

Wow! Some really good deals here.

Man Greg, you had a really good run as "THE" Roscoe dealer. Without a doubt you spec'd out some of the nicest Roscoe's ever made. And I had the privilege to own several of those. You've represented Roscoe with absolute class over the last ~10 years. :)

I guess that it's true that the more things change the more they stay the same. When I bought my first Roscoe (20+ years ago), it was a used one. I bought the next 2 direct from Keith. 20+ years later we seem right back where we started (except the prices are around 2x what they were back in the day.

I'd sure love to have the straight p/u LG fretless. That bass looks like it was made for me! :)

Thanks, Joe! It was indeed a nice run. I'm sad to see it come to an end. Roscoe was the gateway brand to me getting know so many fine folks like you here on TB, so that will continue to be a nice takeaway.

As for the fretless... I think that one might be the first one sold. Lots of nibbles on that one, and I think there is somebody about to pull the trigger on it. Yay!

Lots of great basses and prices. Hard to stay disciplined.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. I'm saying to myself "At these prices I can't afford to NOT buy one... how else can I save $1000?" :-) Greg, this is why I'm not allowed to take my son to orientation! I did point out that you'd be happy to ship one to me! HAHA!

Right. I’d like that “Pino” P bass. Wouldn’t mind the Century 5 J/MM either. Or the Century 4 P/J. I’m more of a 5 string Century guy, but those 4’s are nice as well. So is he Century Custom JJ but even reduced that’s still out of my range.

Wow, just running across this news.. obviously been out of the loop! Thanks for everything, Greg. Sounds like all involved had to make some tough decisions. It was fun while it was fun though, right?

Well said, and yes! It was indeed fun while it was fun. Great way to look at it.
