Roscoe Club

How was the GTG?
It was a good time. Small crowd, only six people could make it, but there were some great basses and some very able hands playing them. Some very cool rigs, too. Thanks to Johnny for hosting! He and Joe took some pics which I'm sure we'll see here before too long. Here's the Roscoe class picture: Johnny's trio of Centuries (including Gard's old fretless 6 on the left), Joe's LG (awesome bass!) and my Century 5.

Good Times in Middle Georgia

A small but exceptional group made their way to middle Georgia yesterday. The propose of their quest was to share some time, enjoy some great fellowship, admire some great instruments and savor some pulled pork BBQ.

***** SUCCESS *****

Some great guys showed up. Here's Lionel (with fresh batteries in his socks)

Joe is always a major player. I almost got a pic of him playing a Fender to post, but he's quick

Dave made the long journey down from the wilderness we call Atlanta, good times!!!

Speaking of Atlanta, Roland made his way in the door with a really sweet Custom, and a couple amazing cabinets. Dion surprised us by making it down with a Smith and a Fodera.

And there was a really grouchy old man who stumbled in and wouldn't leave.

Several nice rigs made their way in with some really nice instruments.

That Prometheon has a great sound in a very small package. That Demeter/Crown package driving the Berg 112 is SWEET.

Here's the "old school" rep. Hard to beat a class A amp with lots of headroom plugged into a Berg 322 (unless you have to pick one of them up that is)

Check out the 1x12 A cabinets behind Deon, the are amazing.

We (I) failed to get usable pictures of all the instruments. I know I missed Roland's Custom, Daves's American a Fender and Deon's Fodera, sorry about that. But have a look at the following anyway

Here's the collection presented by one of our most senior participants

Another small collection brought by a grouchy old man (yeah, that's a 20 year old Aria in the corner)

How a bought some Roscoes

Sorry for missing the rest of the basses. My only excuse is that I was in a BBQ stupor.

I gotta point out, Roland is playing my bass in this picture, and he remarked a couple of times on how much low end it had, and that it would "shake the rafters" in church. That put a smile on my face. The Roscoe GTG two years ago was the tipping point for me to order a bass, so it was cool to bring it down and show it off.
Roland's Performance J bass was pretty sweet. Come to think of it, there were as many Fender or Fender-style basses in the house as there were Roscoes. :woot:

Wish I could have been there but didn't get back to WR in time.:crying:
1. Anymore pictures?
2.What's going on with Lionel's glowing feet?o_O

Hey Dennis,

Sorry you missed us. We didn't take a lot of pictures, guess we were too busy. Most of the other picture we did get were either too dark, or blurry. I'll see if I can clean a few more up.

As far as the glowing shoes go, the "illumination" just showed up in the picture. I couldn't help but use it.

How was the GTG?

Hey Joel. Better late (my reply) than never ......

It went good. Somewhat subdued compared to the GTG"s in the past (as others stated there were only 6 attending). But we still had a good time. Wish you could have arrived. It was certainly more entertaining than Alabama and Auburn games this year!
I'd love to have gotten to check out your headless Roscoe and MM X2 Roscoe.
Dave's JB CS model Roscoe sure had the grand piano tone thing going on. Really a cool sound. It would make a great Yes tribute band bass!:bassist:

Overall I left the GTG with the same overall impressions:
  1. no better bass available (regardless of price) than a Roscoe
  2. Berg still make the best bass cabinets!
  3. MB is still my favorite micro head (Big Bang to be specific).
........ And Georgia Bob's BBQ is still my favorite!:)
