Roscoe Club

Here's my Roscoe SKB hard at work during setup for an all-day show at a local Community Days fair yesterday with The Fabulous Philadelphia Mojo Kings Dance Band. Downbeat at 4 PM, wrapped at 10 PM (there were several breaks and announcements and ceremonies throughout); 70(!) songs on the setlist from 50's R&R through ballads to pop/dance/disco hits to some modern stuff. The Roscoe Killed. All. Day. Fretless are not just boutique studio instruments - some of them get out there in the real world and work for a living.

This is an inspiring post. Getting it done on a 6 string unlined fretless. I have a lot of practice to do.

Man that’s a killer bass. Love that top and headstock! And getting it done with TI flats? Tone must be fantastic.

+1
it takes a brave (and very prepared) man to play a 70 song gig on 6 string fretless!

I gigged exclusively for about 3 months on a 5 string fretless once (waiting for a new fretted Roscoe build) and there were some anxious moments during that time (primarily when the tunes had double stops or chordal parts).
But those were fairly easy worship and praise tunes.

Love that unlined beauty!

My 5 string LG is my main bass. Roscoe fretkess necks are so naturally smooth and comfortable and easy to play, it amazes me how many people only pull them out for a few songs...

Rainy, quiet Monday in my neck of the woods. Any surprising developments or breaking news on the latest, greatest "Roscoes for Sale" frontier? Asking for a friend.

There are a few new (very new?) additions to the 'available Roscoes' pool. I may be adding one soon myself. I'm not using my Century Signature fretless 6 as much as I'd like. My Century Standard Plus fretless 5 is just so good.

I’m bad on a 6er and fretless, but together… :D

There seems to be a greatest ever Roscoe ever very six months online around the Bass Gear for Sale FB site. I think there is one there now. One that was was just built. ;)
