Rotosound Steve Harris for DGCF Tuning ?

Hello guys,

I want to try flatwound on my Fender JB (with Delano p.u) but the problem is we are tuning in DGCF in my band. Do you think the Rotosound's Steve Harris could work ?

Tuning DGCF is not a problem, it's a big plus. It allows you to use big gauge strings (for a thick attack) and low tension (for strong fundamentals), so in total a FAT sound.
I never tried the rotosound Steve Harris, but they surely will do the trick. They are really big gauges, so by downtuning them you'll end op with more or less 'normall' tensions.

Yes, they will work. That set of strings is really thick. Flatwounds usually have more tension than Roundwounds, so you might not feel the strings as floppy as they would be if they were Roundwounds.

Just make sure to give the bass a complete setup when installing them.

even the smaller gauge roto flats are really high tension and would surely do the trick

I believe the E is a 106 which is on the thick side, so tuning down to D should be fine.

Not matter what, when tuning down, you lose some vibrancy and get more thickness.
