Hey guys, looking for a bit of insight on what to do with my future bass-related purchases...
My current band is doing stuff that (in my opinion atleast) really calls for a basstone that isn't all that aggressive and just sort of sits back in the mix and makes the whole thing sound ballsy and fat, not the kind of in your face clanky trebletone.
We've got a few songs in which a 5-string is almost a must and for that I've got a cheap Korean Hamer Cruise, which has a weak B-string and I've had a Yamaha TRB5 II to try out from our guitarist, but I'm just not digging the ~modernish tone that I'm getting out of it.
I've got the option to change the pickups on the Hamer(suggestions?) to maybe beef up the B, buy the Yamaha and put flats on it (not really liking this idea, don't know why), or find a bass that will fit my tone-needs and slap a set of flats on it. I'm looking at a maximum of 1000 euros, the cheaper the better. Take into consideration I'm in Finland, so no USA-only stuff, I'm afraid
Thanks in advance!
