Roundest humbucker/split-coil J pickups?

Yeah, the Delano DJC 4 HEs won't fit in a jazz routing. They are twin jazz pickups and can be used to replace the twin jazz bridge pickups in some Warwick models like the Infinity. I have a custom 5 string with a pair of them (custom order as they don't normally even make a neck version of that pickup) and I'm very impressed.

But essentially all those pickups are is a pair of Delano's JC 4 HE/M2 pickups wired together. And the JC 4 HE/M2s are awesome as well. Side by side split coils in a blade design. They are exactly what you are describing - very round, humbucking J pickups that have a J meets P sound. Best Bass Gear has sets of them in stock and I think you'd really dig them.

Well, I decided against this mod for this bass. What I want to achieve will be better done with a acoustic-electric bass. I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for for this bass yet.

When I typed the OP though I was thinking more of less punch. Something where the attack is dulled down a bit; where if you saw the attack portion of the soundwave, it would be rounder than it is straight. I would have also liked some thickness and fullness to the tone though as well.

If you do have any further suggestions though, I'd like to hear them, possibly others would too. Thanks,

Based on what you just typed I'd still recommend the Delanos. Much rounder and fatter than the normal single coil jazz tone. And with a smoother attack vs the sharpness of single coils.

Hope you find what you're looking for.
