Just a random question, I have an Am Pro P with SPB-1 pickup(great all around pup btw). I have been using Sunbeams and really like them, but just for kicks im open to try something new. I prefer a nickel round and round core......thx.

Rounds to pair with SPB-1 P bass Pickup

GHS Balanced Nickels. Pure nickel on a round core... I find them to be great match for a P. I would suggest the light set (40-101) only because they're firmer in feel than the Sunbeams.
As far as I can recall, you've already tried the GHS Round Core Boomers, right?
Yea, Ive tried RC Boomers and Super Brights....both are ok, but I kept going back to Sunbeams. Its time to order a new set so just thought id through the question out there

Beat me to it! Yes, try the Pure Blues in the same gauge. Also, IME, Fat beams sound really good on a P bass. Right now, my P bass is strung with regular old D'Addario XL 170's and they probably sound best to me overall.
Yeah a good broken in set of XL's sounds really good on a P Bass! I've always thought the midrange frequency of XL's went with a P Bass like peas and carrots.
Aren't these a bit on the high tension/stiff side? I play a lot and my ageing hands prefer moderate to lower tension and less stiffness of round core strings.
The Pure Blues or Daddario XL's? I find the the Pure Blues to be a little stiffer compared to Sunbeams or Fatbeams. The XL'S are hex core and are definately stiffer. I find the XL 170 set 45-100 to be a good compromise between tension and flexibility. Tried the balanced tension set but didn't care for the 107 E string compared to the rest of the strings. GHS Boomers feel like bridge cables to me, but I do like the light guage 40-95 set quite a bit.
Same, standard Boomers are way to stiff.....I haven't played on daddarios in a decade or more, maybe time to try them again? Although I am leery of them being hex core and therefore to stiff for me.
Pure Blues are far from stiff feeling. A tad more tension than Sunbeams for sure but not nearly as stiff as XL's and certainly WAY more flexible than Boomers.
