RSS Feed Filtered for New Posts Only?

I only just recently started experimenting with RSS feeds. Is there a way to get a feed of just new threads in a forum?

Maybe there is a better way to do what I'm thinking about: example - Let's say I am in the market for an Aphex Xciter pedal. My idea is to subscribe to a feed of new threads from the FS effects/pedals forum in an email client. Set up a rule in the email client that says 'forward any item from the feed that includes "Aphex" in the subject as an email to me'. That way, I get email alerts already filtered to a subset that is more likely to have what I'm looking for. If the thread looks good, I can go to it and act on it or subscribe.

I find IFTTT great for this sort of thing (that is, assuming that it can't be done with just talkbass.com). have a look at what you can do with feeds in particular.

Good idea. I did also find some RSS filters but still don't see a way to filter for just new threads but I can work around that, I think. Thanks BBN
