Rumble 4x10 Versions?

Person #1 is selling an Indonesian Rumble 4x10 for just $125. Person #2 is selling a (newer?) Mexican made 4x10 for around $600. But what are the differences between the Indonesian made 410 vs the Mexican made 410? I can see the jacks are different, and obviously the ohms are different. The Indo looks ported at the bottom, the Mexi does not. This would be run with a Rumble 800C +matching ext. 2x10, likely not from the Rumble combo itself because I would think splitting the ohms into 4 might cause problems. Might have to run a separate head for the 4x10. I am leaning towards the Indo made, but I am skeptical of it being so damn cheap.

Also curious how the power rating of the Rumble 800C + 2x10 has more wattage/power handling than the 4x10. Why the heck would that be the case?

The price difference as mentioned is due to their respective ages and most likely original cost.
As for power and compatibility the Indonesian cab is 4ohm and will not work with your combo as their combined impedance is too low.The Mexican one is 8ohm and will work with your combo. Currently you are getting 380watts from the 800c into its own 8ohm 2x10. With an 8ohm extension cab the resistance drops to 4ohms (8+8=4) and the 800watts becomes available.

Currently you are getting 380 up to 400 watts from the 800c into its own 8ohm 2x10. There ya go. Fixed it for you.

I think the newer 800C combos have an impedance selector switch on the ext. out.

Yes, sir. All the Fender Rumble 800s can drive either an 8 ohm, or 4 ohm, ext. cab by setting the Impedance Switch to match the cab.

There have been some interesting developments. The guy confirmed there are actually 2 of these cabs, and he just wants the space. They were artist owned at that. Now I'm thinking of running the Rumble 800C + my 2x10 ext cab for the overdrive tone, and some other head into the two 4x10 cabs for a big round clean. The two 4x10s would theoretically output 200 more watts than the Rumble 800C stack (RMS), but that would be dependent on the volume I play at and it's close enough. I think it's a fine deal at $125 per cab. Technically yes, 12 of those 10's is absolutely too much power for most situations, but I primarily play at home or in spaces without a PA anyhow. I enjoy running many amps at once, and so do my guitarists!

The Indonesian version is much older. The Mexico version is more current and IMO is a better product.
Thank you, I couldn't find much info online. Are we talking superior quality in terms of construction, speakers, or something else?

I see. This was difficult to figure out, as I learned recently that the Rumble 800C can be used with two extension cabs if connected in series (though a friend tells me that it's common for them to be internally wired as parallel). I already have the 2x10 extension cab, so I'm not sure realistically what other cab I could add. Would this increase volume, headroom, or some other benefit? It's still 800w, just split between four 10's, and a hypothetical 3rd extension cab (not sure what would be the best pairing) I am reading in the manual, with the right cab the rumble can split to 2.67 ohms. Has anyone ever tried running a Rumble 800 into Two extension cabs at once? And if so, what did you choose? What were the differences, pros/cons vs. just running the single ext cab?

It sounds like the owner got them at a deal from the widow of the artist in question, and due to being an amp repair guy, doesn't really have a need for them. Might just be a screaming deal assuming they work. The prospect of running an 8x10 AND a vertical 4x10 is just too good to pass up. Now to find the right head to pair it with... Thanks again!!

Hey there! I have utilized two 8ohm 2x12 w/ my Rumble 800c w/ no issue. 1st 2x12 (8ohm) into 2nd 2x12 (8ohm)=4ohm and flip the switch on the back to 4ohm...full 800 watts w/ 4x12 and internal 2x10...LOTS of RUMBLE! I also have a 2x15 4ohm I am excited to try w/ the 800c. VERY cool feature in an amp at this price, this weight, so many features. They really are fantastic amps~

Running the R800c with the Rumble 8 ohm 210 cab is already at 4 ohms and the full 800 watts! You could add another 8 ohm cab, but not the 4 ohm cab. OR you could replace the 210 cab with the 4 ohm 410 cab. Either way, you'll only get up to 800 watts, but more speakers is roughly more Sound Pressure Level (SPL). (And the 500 watt 410 cabs do not supply that power, that's just how much they can take, if the amp can give it.)
But I don't understand your comment about about "splitting the ohms into 4 might cause problems". The 4 ohm cab can't be split, it's always 4 ohms. And the 8 ohm cabs can't be split, either. Plus, when connected in parallel, the total ohms load is reduced! The R800c's internal 8 ohms speakers plus the external R210's 8 ohms speakers gives a total load of 4 ohms! Adding the Mexi R410's 8 ohms to that gives a total of 2.67 ohms, which is the minimum the R800c can run! Adding the Indo R410's 4 ohms to the R800c with external R210 cab gives a total of 2 ohms, which is too small and could burn out the amp!!

... ... ... Also curious how the power rating of the Rumble 800C + 2x10 has more wattage/power handling than the 4x10. Why the heck would that be the case? ... ... ...

The amp is rated to output up to 400 watts into a single 8 ohm load, such as its internal speakers. But the amp is also rated to output up to 800 watts into a 4 ohm load, such as when the external 8 ohm R210 is connected (showing total 4 ohms to the amp). AND the amp is rated to output up to 800 watts into a 2.67 ohm load, such as when the R800c is connected to the 8 ohm R210 AND to the 8 ohm 410!
But, the amp is not rated to function safely if connected to a total 2 ohm load, such as when the R800c is connected to the external 8 ohm 210 cab AND to the 4 ohm Indo 410 cab.

Yes the 4 ohm Indo 410 cab is a Rumble V2 produced between 2010 - 2014. It is also much heavier than the newer 8 ohm Mexi Rumble V3 410.

... ... ... The two 4x10s would theoretically output 200 more watts than the Rumble 800C stack ... ... ...

No, again, the cabs do not supply the watts/power. They can only receive the power that the amps send them, up to their ratings. If you use a Rumble 800 HD head (similar to the R800c amp) to drive the 8 ohm Mexi Rumble V3 410 cab alone it will output up to 400 watts. If you use the R800 HD to drive the 4 ohm Indo Rumble V2 410 alone it will output up to the full 800 watts and possibly damage that cab! But, iff you connect both the 4 ohm and the 8 ohm 410 cabs to the R800 HD then you'll get up to 800 watts total; 267 watts from the 8 ohm cab and 533 watts from the 4 ohm cab.
You would need an amp rated for 1000 watts at 2.67 ohms to get 200 more watts from both the 410 cabs you're considering than the R800c+210 stack you have. BUT, with the mismatched 8 & 4 ohm 410 cabs, the 8 ohm would be giving up to 333 watts and the 4 ohm would be giving up to 667 watts!!!
Ya needa be careful with your wattage and ohmage, there, Fuman! Learn the math behind this so you can know what you're doing and don't damage anything.

Thank you all for chiming in!

I think I need to do a deep dive on this whole topic so I can better understand everything. And the whole quoting in replies thing, as I've lurked forums for 15 years but only recently actually started posting.

"G-Dog: Yes the 4 ohm Indo 410 cab is a Rumble V2 produced between 2010 - 2014. It is also much heavier than the newer 8 ohm Mexi Rumble V3 410"
Interesting, I assumed these cabs were V3 because the V2s are usually all black including the grill cloth. These are heavy, but nowhere near as heavy as my old Peavey 4x10 back in the day which was basically a giant steel cube.

I think I will run the 800C + 2x10 ext cab for the dirt, and the 4x10+4x10 stack for clean. My only issue now is that both 4x10's are 4 ohm cabs. So is it safe to assume I need a head capable of running at 2ohms to use the cabs together in parallel? I am being told that I could run the cabs in series which would equal 8 ohms, at the expense of volume. There aren't many heads that seem to be able to do that, other than the obvious choice being a Rumble 500/800 head.

Does anyone know if it is safe to operate the Rumble 800 and the 2x10 ext cab horizontally? I have heard it can cause issues with cooling, or damage to the speakers. Asking because it would be fun to try them as a big tower of 10s.

Here is a picture of the cabs. What a mighty rig!! Maybe it's time to get the Rumble 800 head!

Yes, the Rumble V2s were produced with black metal grilles but, as you see, those are easily replaced with the V3-looking silver grille clothe.

You are correct, Fuman, 4 ohms + 4 ohms (in parallel) = 2 ohms and can draw the full 800 watts from a R800HD!! You are also correct that the Rumble 800 HD head is one of the few that can safely run 2 ohms all night long! But the Rumble 500 head (now discontinued) cannot do that.
You are also correct that 4 ohms + 4 ohms (in series) = 8 ohms, which would only draw 400 watts from a R800HD. Not a good use for such powerful cabs.

I know of no valid reason you can't run the Rumble 800 combo on its side. I've run my R500c on its side a few times with no ill effects. Just be sure the ambient temperature isn't too high so the fan(s) can do their job properly. And I:ve never heard that the orientation would effect the speakers significantly.
