Running at 2 ohms??

My Nemesis NA650 can run at 275w @ 8 ohms, 440w @ 4 ohms, or 650w @ 2 ohms. I have a 4 ohm 215 cab. If I add another 4 ohm cab, and run @ 2 ohms, will my amp run too hot?

Considering that your first sentence told us that the amp is rated for 2, I doubt it . . . .

I run my WT-405 at 2 ohms all the time. The fan runs alot, but to no ill effect. Just keeps on pouring out smooth Eden sound.

I just don't want to run it at 2 ohms, if it will stress it more than necessary. Thanks

I posted about this a while ago because I've got 2 Schroeders, which are 4 ohms each.

The general consensus seems to be that if the manufacturer quotes a 2 ohm rating for the amp, then it is fine to run it at 2 ohms. If it was in any way unsafe then the maker would face a lot of warranty claims. Why say it is safe to run at 2 ohms if it is not?

Agreed, if the amp has a rating on it for 2 ohms, I'd think it's ok.

If you amp is rated for 2 ohms your are okay, but I would say your are shortening its long term life. Heat is the enemy of electronics and running at 2 ohm is going to generate more heat than 4 or 8 ohms.

Yes, it is safe to run your amp at 2 ohms.

Another thing to keep in mind is that with another cabinet hooked up you will get a boost in volume from the effects of acoustic coupling. Because of this, depending on the volume you need, you might not have to push your amp as hard with two cabinets.

Not necessarily... the amp is designed to be able to run at that level, and with the added cab it probably won't have to run as hard.
