Ruper Neve RNDI

Do you already have a DI and you're looking for a really nice DI? If so, I've never used one of these but it's gotta sound good... For what it's worth, I have a good passive and a good active direct DI. On bass I prefer the passive (JDI) to the active (NPNG Diehlio), but they're pretty damned close.

I normally use my amp, my Hartke VXL Attack pedal or my Peterson Classic Strobostomp tuner for DI, as I place zero faith in sound guys anyway. I'm thinking that this might be a great compliment to my recording interface and to guarantee that the best possible signal is going to the crappy FOH sound dude.

Get a passive DI then. If you want to lessen the possibility of the sound guy messing with your night, don't rely on them needing to give you phantom power to make your rig work. Radial JDI, Countryman 85, Acme Mowtown if you're feeling spendy...

I like the sound of the RNDI but I gotta say that the Avalon sounded more organic to me. The RNDI sounded very even. I would like to here a comparison with the RNDI and the Basswitch. I own the BW and would love to see if they are the same.

Oh, come on, Rupert Neve designed this thing, it has to sound awesome, it just has to!

Well, I don't know if does or not. My favorite passive DI at the moment is the good ol' Radial JDI. After that, it's a toss-up between the Radial J48 and the Countryman Type 85 (Both active, both sound great).

I'm going to spring for an RNDI and see how it sounds. I'm hoping that it may fend off my desires for a REDDI DI, which, I know, is a completely different animal. Hard to say how that's going to come out since the REDDI is known for adding its character to the sound (my church FOH guy, an outstanding pro audio veteran whom I trust implicitly, sez our REDDI is not an "honest" DI, even though we both love what it does) and Neve consoles are known for their transparent character, which makes me believe the RNDI is built on the same principle.

Now, every bit of this may turn out to be a total and complete crock. I'll know before long...:D

If I would consider to spend the money for a REDDI, I would give the new small Ampegs a chance.
The PFT-20 and the PFT-50.
Not (just) as amps, but because they have transformer-balanced line-outs and although full-tube amps don't need a speaker load.

So @Geri O - did you get the RNDI and if so, what do you think so far? I have an opportunity to go direct in Feb and am leaning towards the RNDI.

Sorry to say, I have not yet. Sometimes I plan my budget, sometimes my budget plans me....:roflmao:

I'm looking at cataract surgery in a few weeks (piece 'o cake, already had one eye done), so once I get past that, I'm gonna resume increasing my toy collection. I hope the RNDI is one of my first acquisitions.

Then perhaps I can give you my first impressions! :)

Good luck with the 2nd eye; fortunately that surgery has come to the point of being very routine!

Hi,
I need a Di with 2 chanel's input.
I'm hesitate between the Radial Firefly and the Rupert Neve RNDI-S...
Do you have a opinion ?
i don't play upright, and no basse with piezo for information.
The Neve look so simple to use !
