Rush song, effect pedal?

Maybe a touch of phaser with the speed on low? I will have to check out both pedals. Trying to save for a compressor right now. Thanks all for the detailed responses. Always fascinated how musicians get their tone and I barely have enough time in the day to spend an hour on bass. I don't know how these popular musicians like Geddy found the time for all this stuff. I guess back then they had the music producers and engineers to train and help them.

Back then people weren't nearly as obsessed over the intricacies of their tone as today. And as to how Geddy had the time.....well he was an internationally famous rock star whose sole job was to make music and put out records. I think he easily found the time.

Basically add some chorus and phase and you'll have it. Ged was never big on bass effects until way later when he started messing with sans amps but this little lick in vital signs is a rare bit of bass effects. Kinda like his opening line in the trees when he'd use his moog pedals to create a heavy chorus to harmonize with the bass riff. Back in those days there wasn't much in the way of effects so you're going to find that sound no problem.
