@bassistjoe93, looks fantastic, great job. Noticeably a lot better relic job than the original. What you've done looks way more like actual wear as opposed to a bunch of random chips and sanding. And I'm with the minority here, the parchment guard looks much better to my eye.

Here’s a few more full shots. I don’t have the covers installed currently, but I like how they look. It is also period correct, but VERY annoying, that I have to take the neck off for any truss rod adjustment.

@bassistjoe93 Very nice! I personally like the parchment on fiesta red. How did you prep the body to put another coat on it? It looks like the fiesta red is the only layer! I'm sure if you did not prep the original layer it would not come out so smooth. Did you have to sand down the original finish without taking off the pink paint?

I'm a fan of tort, but the parchment guard seems to scream early-mid 60's in my opinion. To my eyes, it just fits.

I bought a Fender Flea Bass from a guy locally for a stupid good deal. I intended to flip it, but the more I played it, the more I really enjoyed it.

I’ve always wanted a fiesta red jazz, but anything Fiesta Red is automatically more money. So I reranched the bass and came out with this! I left the original pink underneath so that as it wears, the pink shows through. I’m super happy with how it turned out. Now I just have to decide between tort guard or parchment.

I have a RW Jazz sunburst and really love it. Its the best MIM Fender Jazz ever made, imho. It plays exactly like my MIA '95 Jazz. Nice job !

Gotta say that at first I was disappointed to see you were gonna lose the shell pink (for a color I generally don't fancy) but you did an awsome job! It looks really great!

Nice. I picked up a flea bass way cheap and did a re-fin and ended up skipping the relic job. Once the un faded shell pink was on it.....

That’s what I’m talking about!!! Beautiful. If the pink had been like that then there’d have been no need for a refin! Great looking bsss!

Ive thought of doing the same, thin coats and minimal final finish. I would like to let natural wear and tear do its work. I was thinking of Olympic white or Burgundy mist, but have never gotten the nerve up. If there was someone accomplished local to me I would pay to have it done.

Wow looks awesome, especially with the white (mint) pickguard. Might look cool with a heavily relic'ed mint guard as well.

Not too expensive get a few and change around “as needed”
