Ian, did yours come without the control plate over the pots, or did you remove it?
Sports utility bass makes about as much sense as "Dargie Delight" or SLO Special.
Of course, I have heard others say SUBs are so named because they are "substitutes" for the real basses. We don't like people like that, do we?![]()
its a SUB Sterling
a different bass altogether with a slimmer neck profile
and smaller body
Dargie is named after Dargin which in turn is a nickname for one of Sterling Ball's sons
SLO stands for San Luis Obispo where Ernie Ball cranks out basses and guitars
I think most people who write off the SUB as substitutes are missing the point of the SUB
is a pretty neat niche bass:
old school slab body
old school 2 band EQ
active or passive pre depending on your model
these are qualities that some ppl are really craving for
so much that EBMM has released the new Classic series
Here we have essentially the same deal except without
the fancier finish, bridge mute, string through body, and in some of the older SUBs the compensated nut (I have one of the last models of the SUB with the comp nut)
Down the road I think the SUB will be a nice model to have in the collection as far as something that was put out by EBMM in a limited run.

to the A and D. just a couple of gentle taps and down they went. I now have a better, more even tone across all 4 stings.
