I can see why you tried that bass....it is stunning.

I'm not actively looking for a jazz. I have a couple of those. This was more about that particular Sadowsky and my total lack of self-control. I actually have a 24-fret jazz on order from Sadowsky NYC. I'll do a nice NBD next summer.

I had a similar experience with a Metro M5-24. It was a fantastic instrument on all accounts, just not for me. I sold it and ended up with an NYC 5-21

I recently bought 3 sets of short scale bass strings from Fret Nation because a few months back I asked them why their price had increased so much. They actually provided a link where I could buy them much cheaper!

They didn't make excuses or try to sell me on some other brand. They simply provided a link and stated here is the current best price for the strings you inquired about. So, I will throw extra business their way when reasonable.

Besides, Fret Nations string prices are usually better than Amazon's SALE price!

I will get out of my place and answer. It is a new, Sadowsky by Warwick bass. They are imports, but not cheap. The Chinese line are the Sire equivalents.

This one is the Sadowsky Masterbuilt CS handmade in Warwick’s custom shop in Germany. They’re being touted as on-par with the NYC’s quality. I can’t say I disagree with that assessment. It’s spectacular.

Of course, impulses come in many sizes, shapes, colors... & price tags.

Hmm just by looking at it I can assume it will not have a vintage like 60s jazz bass tone.
Fret nation been good to me too but i would never buy such an instrument without trying it first.

I also had a similar experience with an Alembic. Wanted one for a couple decades and finally did it. I tried to like it for months, but just couldn't. It was beautiful and very well made, but the most uncomfortable bass I've ever played in my life. Sold it and bought a fixer-upper '65 P that will be my "beater".

It can be said from design and pickups that the tone would be modern - growly, not vintage smooth. But i think that there are still some amps that can make it sound much more Your way !

Don't buy basses on looks alone. Impulse control is a nice thing to culture.

Ken Smith is exactly what it sounded like. It was most pronounced in the slap tone. The seller had a video playing the bass and that tone didn't stand out to me. But in my hands, it had that distinct burpy tone that I dislike. Lesson learned.

I was too - I was just wanting it to work so much that I kept fighting with it after the window expired. I thought the step up to a 6 string just needed some time. Turns out it was more time than I was willing to give (other things to work on).
