Saddle screws scratch bridge

Hi fellow G&Lers,

I always try to handle intonation adjustment with care, but nonetheless get scratches from the saddle screws on the bridge. Are there any tricks to avoid that? Are there any special-ended screws of a suitable size or smth. like that?

Not to be rude, but does it matter?

What about placing a barrier of paper or plastic under the screws while you do your basic work then remove it for your final minute adjustments?

I don't think scratches on the bridge aren't going to devalue the bass any. I've never heard of babying a bass that much (I try to be careful, but drops and stuff happen), but to each their own. However, quicker's tip on using a piece of plastic or paper (maybe an unused piece of credit card plastic like one of those supermarket discount cards) should work.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check it! I'm just a bit too sensitive for aesthetics Hopefully the plastic won't change the sound in a measurable way.
