Between all of the videos I’ve watched of you playing your SMX Modern 5, that one has the best tone IMO. It’s think and full, but still articulate.

I did not record any videos yet, but I have found out more about getting a good slap tone out of my MX Modern 5. To my surprise, turning down or turning off the VTC gets me a more usable slap tone. Turning up the VTC is great for super articulate finger or pick tones. It unleashes too many high mids that result in a harsh or brittle sound slap tone and an even worse pluck.

Either turning off the VTC or turning it no more 25% tames the high mids. A modest boost of the bass and treble will result in a somewhat Fender like slap tone. Soloed the neck pickup can really get classic P-bass slap tone. Both pickups give gets a tone sort of like a Jazz, but with less scoop.
