I have never heard a Sadowsky person say there was a difference in build quality between Japanese and US made versions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the differences between the Metro and NYC basses was the options in the NYC basses that weren't available in the Japanese Metros. Like chambering, choices of wood and finish. . . . and of course the differences in costs between manufacturing in Japan and US.

So far I've only played 1 NYC bass and I was surprised that I preferred the sound of my Metro. There was no difference in feel between the basses.

I've never played an NYC... I'm sure they're great, but I have an MV4, and I'm good to go.

If tou want fancy top or ebony or other exotic wood for fingerboard then is way to go, if you want maple or morado and don't mind 1/2 to 1 lbs extra the metro is just as good as far as sound and finishing details.
