Picked this up on a trade, just to move another Sadowsky I was parting ways with. I'm a died-in-the-wool P5 and PJ5 guy, and for anyone wanting to check out a high-end example that has a fast neck like a J-bass, this is your Huckleberry. I have thumped on it a bit, but I much prefer my main player, an NYC PJ5 with Brazilian Rosewood/heavy unchambered ash/1.875" nut.

Yes, this bass I'm selling has a faster neck ... I really could start my 'self-indulgent bass shredder' YouTube career if that's where I wanted to go ... but to me the 1.875" feels more like a P-bass. Similar to how old 4-bangers used to be (for the most part):

    • J-bass: 1.5" Nut
    • P-Bass: 1.75" Nut

Profile is nice and round, and man, tonally I really like how alder has a bit more spread on the low-end than my ash-body PJ5 does. The ash-body has more piano like clarity on the last 4 notes of the B-string, but it doesn't have that same warmth.

This bass went through several owners, but here's the original owner's thread, a fantastic, working-bass player out of Hong Kong, who from his posts I can judge is a gentleman and a scholar:

SOLD - Sadowsky NYC Ultra Vintage PJ5

    Ultra- Vintage P5
    FINISH | Vintage Shoreline Gold
BODY | Alder, Full Size, Reduced Weight
NECK | Roasted Maple with Thin Matte Nitro Finish / Matching Headstock
FINGERBOARD | Amazon Rosewood, 12” Radius, 1-3/4” Nut Width, Vintage Tint
    PICKGUARD | Tortoise
    HARDWARE | Chrome
    PICKUPS | Sadowsky PJ
PREAMP | Sadowsky Preamp with Vintage Tone Control
    STRINGS | Sadowsky Nickel
    CASE | Softhard Case

    - Recessed Strap Lock
    - Both Tradition P and Reversed P routing

Come with two extra pickguard, one with reversed P route.
Feels like about 9lbs, but I'll get back to you folks with a more exact figure. Not the lightest Sadowsky I've owned, but a lot lighter than my 10.5 lb main player.

NOT Looking for trades please. Selling this to pay for all the GAS fun I've already been engaging in. Might be into an ash/maple Metro PJ5 plus cash ... but that is it. I've got a pro-tech Gig Bag with this one, the same pick guards that came with it, and have time to wait. NO LOW BALLERS. I JUST MIGHT RESPOND WITH MONTY PYTHON MEMES AND THAT IS IT.

I need this bass in my life, but my life needs the money I’d spend on it. Decisions, decisions...

Fun thing about selling a hi-end bass:

Other guys with similar basses, who you might never see post anything on this site, reveal the most amazing basses to you. Not gonna trade towards any of them so far, but cool to see.

    LOL. Exactly.

Part of me wants to advise them to do what I did, with a few hi-end purchases:

    • Build up your credit
    • Take a loan and/or use one of those 'don't pay for 18 months' cards
    • Buy something you shouldn't
    • Hustle like you never have in your life to pay it before interest hits.

That's exactly how I got my WD 800. Almost paid off, it will be long before the interest hits

In the meantime, I have no cash for youse :(
Need to get my hustle on!

This hunger for basses has me out there like Gordon Gecko. I'm listening to Too $hort albums and taking notes.

Every bass-player worth his/her salt should have a Sadowsky PJ5 ... with a P-Body ... a roasted maple neck ... a 1.75" nut width ... and yes, that is an oddly-specific pronouncement that happens to benefit me.

This is the best bass for 'meddle'.

With charities giving such small percentages to people in need vs expenses this is a 100% no brainer.

How else DOES one DJ on a Bebop gig without a bass like this?

    Rhetorical question of course

To all potential buyers (I believe in you DJ Skiddly-Bop) ...

Think of the headgear you’ll want to procure to go with this bass.
