1st time posting in forever, not sure if this should be in the Club Sadowsky thread. Feel free to move it if necessary. I recently bought a Sadowsky Metro Modern 4. Very nice instrument with that awesome "Ken Smith type tone". However, there were a few things I couldn't deal with and ended up returning the bass. The long reach, string spacing, and neck width/thickness were not at all to my liking. I am used to the modern Fender Jazz & MM Stingray type feels. I was however recently revisiting the Sadowsky idea and was looking at the Metro Vintage M/J models. They are 21 fret vs 24 on the Modern so would the reach be similar to a Jazz or Stingray ?? I am also have trouble finding specs on the neck dimensions vs the Modern. Are they the same shape & string spacing with the exception of 3 less frets ?? I know they both have a 12" radius but that's not a deal breaker.
If this model hangs and feels more like a Fender/Stingray, it may be the one for me. I hate to keep ordering and returning instruments, but for something over 3K, its got to be right. I honestly didn't see a $ 3,500 bass in the Modern model but wouldn't mind the price if it had that "just right" feel. I know it sounds great and should be very versatile It being the best of a Stingray and Jazz all in one. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated....
