Sadowsky Vs Valenti

I'm straight, but I would still like to hear an apology on behalf of my gay friends who will hear about this thread tomorrow when I talk to them ;)

Seriously, what is the deal here, guys? Rob is one of the oldest members of this board (as far as years of membership, that is), and everyone here respects and trusts what he has to say. Noirextra, if you don't like it, click on his username to go to his profile, and then click "Add To Ignore List." It's that simple.

This is Talkbass; let's talk bass... Sadowsky v. Valenti, anyone?

man, sorry to gays everywhere, and thanks to you for some good advice, hes on the ignore list now.
sorry, i let him get to me again, go back and read where he comes in and starts trying to stir it up and then you'll see my point, but anyway, thats in the past,
cheers and sorry to all tb members

HI

Both rock.

Sadowsky's are pretty unique. They are what they are and sound a certain way, for the most part

Nino offers a choice of preamps, pickups, etc. Can kinda make your own bass, in a way

Both are expertly assembled, fun to play, sound great. Both builders are great people, honest, highly skilled

I guess it comes down to what you like and what you want to spend.

Id be happy to gig either.

Rob

Either would sound great; it just depends on what tone you're after. What type of music do you play? Can you list some signature songs or artists that nail the tone you want, or else describe it for us?

No offense intended at all, Noirextra, but I'm 24 years old, and my tastes in instruments have changed COMPLETELY in the last 10 years. I'm glad I didn't order a custom guitar when I was your age, although believe me, I had my dream Strat worked out to the last detail. I even had a mock-up of it on my computer as my desktop wallpaper. Then, five years later, I switched to bass.

If you know what you want and can afford it, awesome, but if I could tell my 14-year-old self something about buying instruments, it would be, it's fun to dream, but don't waste builders' time with quotes for instruments you're not going to commission. Also, frankly, a high-end bass is not necessary for someone your age. Use the money to buy a PA system, or a van (in a few years), or to start building up a portfolio of studio recordings. A Sadowsky or Valenti etc bass is something you buy when you're A) a professional session or working player like Rob B) a hobbyist with a day-job and a decent income like many TBers or C) a major-label player like Jason Newsted. I do not say this to insult you, but I'm just being honest: A 14-year-old isn't ready for a bass like that.

When I need an EADGC fretless 5-string with Nordie Fat Stacks, an OBP-3,
and ebony fingerboard, my Valenti is perfect. When I need a 9-in radius
neck 4-string hum canceling P/J with the warmth of a brazilian rosewood
fingerboard, chambered alder body, a VTC and Sadowsky preamp, my
Sadowsky is perfect.

Conclusion: Both instruments are perfect.

I have a 1998 (NYC obviously) Sadowski Jazz, in mint condition, which I love, but I think i'd trade for a NYC p/j like that in a heart beat. He didn't make a P/J back then.
Now that I'm thinking of it, before asking Roger how much I could fetch for mine on a trade in,(or sold privately), may I ask how much that cost you?
PM me if ya like. Thanks!

Too Late.

We're done here.
