Saga makes a Jazz kit?

You can buy an assembled and painted SX for the same price, but it's an inexpensive way to jump into diy.
For inexpensive DIY, I'd buy an SX, then buy cheap wood and fashion a body onto which I'd mount the SX hardware and neck. About the same price as the Saga, but I'd expect the SX to have better parts and you'd get a spare body to refin at your leisure (More DIY practice).
You shape it yourself home slice. I've put together a couple of their p kits and they're actually not bad, certainly gig worthy and the pickups packed quite a surprising punch. If you throw on a nice looking finifsh and smooth out the minor kinks in it, you can resell these for more than you payed for the kit. I may have to give it a go.
Guitar player in my band has the Tele kit by these guys, and it is a PLAYER. As it came in the kit it was pretty nice, but now has some really nice hardware and a BC Rich neck on it. He gigs with it some.

I got one of these and was very happy with how it turned out. The sound was pretty good the neck feels fine, the fret job etc.
It was my first build so it was more of an experiment however it has become my primary bass I'll be gigging with it next week.
Of course I replaced a bunch of stuff on it within weeks- not so much because it wasn't good, but more because the replacement stuff was better and to continue the project.
