I grew up in the South with people dumping salt on watermelon and it's the grossest thing ever. No coincidence that high blood pressure ran in my family either. One of the many things related to 'Southern cuisine' I rejected as part of my Southern upbringing. Don't get me started on boiled peanuts either.
How do you feel about playing Dizzy's "Salt Peanuts"?

I tried it at the behest of my Southern born and raised mother, but it didn't do a thing for me or the melon.

If the watermelon is as naturally good as it should be, it doesn't need a thing on it. In fact, any fresh fruit that's as good as it should be should leave you not even thinking about putting anything on it.
