personally, i don't know how you can eat watermelon WITH salt.
i grew up with unsalted watermelon, so maybe that explains it.

I've never even heard of putting salt on watermelon but then I grew up in a household where if you wanted a soda, it was Tab or nothing.
My dad would put sugar on his tomatoes. My mom said if you want to make tomatoes taste sweeter, put salt on them instead.

First I will have to find a decent one, most of those seedless and striped variety are garbage.
Didn't like avocado until I found out that salt added made a big difference.
Mom used to make homemade tomato juice. Red, yellow and when mixed, orange. She would also combine orange juice and buttermilk as a refreshing drink. And her secret for the best lemon meringue pie was to use half the sugar that the recipe called for.
I've never did feel a need to put sugar on grapefruit but my wife does it all the time.

Born 1951, Columbus, OH. As a kid, 50s & 60s, salt on a watermelon was the only way that I ever ate 'em. Mom, dad, sister, friends and neighbors did salt too.
But, for the past 50 years.....been eating them without salt.
My wife won't let me salt 'em.

Salt and watermelon is good. Tajin and watermelon is better. Feta and watermelon is great.
did it as a kid, but not since the 70's. I like super cold, no salt.
I prefer tajin (chili pepper, lime and sea salt), so I voted yes.

I grew up in the South with people dumping salt on watermelon and it's the grossest thing ever. No coincidence that high blood pressure ran in my family either. One of the many things related to 'Southern cuisine' I rejected as part of my Southern upbringing. Don't get me started on boiled peanuts either.

No melons. None. Nay. No Watermelon, no honeydew, no cantaloupe, no none of it. Keep them. Have my share. Not with salt, or anything else.
