Since going down the rabbit hole of double bass concerto repertoire, and trying to adapt it to electric bass, I've run into several gaps and technical hurdles. The largest of these has been the lack of a proper analogue for the jumping bow technique that Paganini and other bowed string players have used in their pieces.
Here's what I came up with:
Attached is an exercise to illustrate it. I can get it pretty cleanly up to about 900-1000 notes a minute so far, so about where it needs to be to simulate the jumping bow.
