Hello everyone, my name is Chris (although friends call me Raz...long story involving video games); and I'm new to bass guitar. I've been playing 6 string for the past 4 or 5 years and decided to pick up bass to change things up, and lemme tell you I'm glad I did. I haven't felt this gung-ho about music in years. I'm sure many of you fine folks have felt the same.
As for what music I'm into? I'm a big fan of thrash ('tallica, megadeth), industrial (Rammstein), melodic (Children of Bodom), and many more types of metal. I also like classic rock, doom rock, and Hell even some hair bands (I have a weakness for my def leppard vinyls).
Some facts about me:
Born and raised in Chicago, IL
Bears, White Sox, and Blackhawks fan.
I have 4 tattoos and counting. 3 of which are nerdy (2 from Legend of Zelda, 1 from Star Wars)
I have over $300 worth of Star Wars legos
The first song I learned to play from start to finish was "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica
Mostly a rhythm guitarist. I never really enjoyed soloing. Much happier laying down some heavy riffs.
I have a pet Bearded Dragon
My current rig is a Music Man clone (figured I shouldn't spend too much on my first bass. Start small, then work my way up to the expensive stuff), a white Les Paul copy (with neodymium pups and a vinyl bullseye sticker), and an Epiphone Les Paul Custom in the ever-beautiful silverburst. I play through a Peavey Vypyr VIP2. My pedals are an Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff Pi and a Dunlop 105Q bass wah.
