Same bass different woods

So has anyone built a bass with exactly the same dimensions and electronics the only difference being the woods used.

If you have, have you noticed much of a difference sonically?

you should also include the stipulation that it also have the same type of finish applied to the same thickness

I am about to do this with 4 basses if I can clear my backlog.

curious about how to account for the difference between two pieces of wood within the same species ... will you record the assembled basses unfinished first and then record again after they are finished?
