Double Bass San Jin

Hi everyone

I would like to know more about (construction, sound, etc ...) one instrument very similar with this.
I know that is unusual, but the front and back are solid table and only the ribs are laminated. Because it is, the laminated ribs alter significantly the timbre of the sound compared to a solid ribs?
It's a double bass that will better and add value over time?

Combining laminate and solid materials for double bass construction is not a unique idea. It is almost impossible for anyone to make an over-the-net assessment of an instrument without hearing it in person. Have you tried it yourself? I have had a couple of ply basses in my teens that sounded great. I have also had carved instruments that were not good at all. There are many factors that influence the timbre of a good bass (too many to name in this post). If it sounds good and is reasonably priced, I would say it is a winner. Good luck.

Those are Korean made instruments, that used to be sold as "Linear" double basses. Do a search here, as I've talked about the plusses and minuses of those instruments a lot.

But... it's a bass from Volker Nahrmann (I bought a bass from him, so I recognize the shop) and he is a very reputable dealer, so chances are he has gone over the bass carefully and done a good set up.

Will it "appreciate" in value over time - no. But it could be a very good bass to last you a while.

Why do you say that? Even Fender Precisions appreciate in value over enough time. Assuming a moderate price is paid for a decent double bass, it's hard to imagine one not appreciating in value.

Look in the for sale section here. Most factory Asian basses sell for less used than new.
