Sandberg Basses?

I have 3 Sandbergs - a JM, JJ, and PM.
It is possible to get an old school vibe from these.
I suggest, on the JM, rotating the MM pickup so that the active coil is nearest the bridge (in single coil mode). You have to cut through the glue carefully to separate the pickup from the cover. This puts the coil in the 70's position as opposed to the stock position (on mine anyway) which is further towards the neck than the Fender J 60's position. Then cut the eq on the bass and treble a little.

I use Infeld Superalloys which give a more vintage tone especially when worn in. I also use a strip of foam next to the bridge to cut the sustain a little.

The Delano pickups have wider freq response than Fender ones, so cutting the eq's gets you very close IME.
The JJ is the easiest to get a vintage tone from.
I've had to replace the Delano P on my PM to get a tone I like but the plus side is that it seems to interract with the MM pickup better. Most PM's/Vm's have Sandberg's own pickups nowadays which I have no experience of.

Sandberg TM 5 in a word...The dogs!!! Awesome instrument I have been a pro player for 30 years and forgotten how many basses I have owned but these things are killer!!! Mine is the hardcore TM 5 (pictured) the detail and build quality is simply superb I have a fender custom shop heavy relic jazz and wanted a five string relic to match it's finish..These are every bit as well put together if not dare I say it better!!! Many tone options from passive vintage to modern active...don't think about it just do it...I will be having a TM4 soon

You can also order the 5 strings in 34inch scale...
And to be a bit controversial, these guys have taken what was already a great design and improved it. Fender custom shop stuff is top notch but I'd rather spend the coin on a Sandberg rather than spend extra to get a Fender that works...

That said, I do have a couple of Fenders and I love 'em.
