So I got a p bass project going on and almost ready to lay down clear on the body,but there's some light texture in the paint,most likely overspray. What would I use to remove the texture without dulling the paint?

Why are you worried about dulling the paint if you are clear coating? The clear will dictate the gloss level no matter what. Go over with 600 wet/dry paper wet with a little soap, smooth finish, clean, dry, and shoot clear.

If you are using nitro, the clear coats will melt into each other and when cured, then you can wet sand to remove the orange peel. when you have wet sanding up to 2000 grit, then polish out to high gloss.

Btw, is nitro expensive? I sure hope it is, I'll just do about anything to get nitro on my bass.

Thanks for hi jacking my thread there...
It's not nitro just a lacquer (Testors) which is model lacquer. One last question, I think I failed to mention this is a metallic paint. Does this change sanding? I read on guitar projects website about painting metallics and it talked about spraying light coats of clear on,then lightly sanding the clear to get rid of the texture,because sanding the direct paint shifts and flattens the flakes.

Yoga, Unless you're set up to spray nitro (respirators, etc), very hazardous to your respiratory system. If you want a nitro like finish, you could always go with the KTM waterbased finish.

What I've seen done, is the flaking, initially applied with the finish, then a few coats on top of that, so it can be leveled, without affecting the flake below.
