Dammit why did they come back while I'm in such dire straights for money?! I need to get a second job already.
I must admit, the lack of bottom end was disappointing at first. Kind of have to crank the volume to get that back. With my P bass and SVT the settings I landed on were Volume - 3, Tone - 10:30, drive almost all the way up, toggle switch down. Seems to really open up. May be picking up a vintage V4B this coming weekend so I will be curious how it will react with that. But it's like a muff, with a more harsh breakup then a green russian, and a hell of a lot more mids, even in the "scooped" position. Curious how it will sit in my bands mix.
They are not cheap, doesn't help that the Canadian dollar is horrendous currently

I only had an hour at lunch with it. Explained my feelings above. I look forward to hitting the front end of the V4B I may get. My SVT just has too much headroom.
higher gain settings do lead to less low end. i don't really hear that much more gain with the knob at 10 o'clock vs 3 or 5 o'clock. i keep the gain around 9 or 10 and tone about the same. i also like gain and tone all the way counter clockwise.
I just got mine this morning, and I like it... except for the unrelenting high-pitched noise it makes. Anyone else experience this?
hmm as a result of feedback? if it's a high pitched hum maybe try an isolated power supply?
I don't believe it's feedback, it's still there no matter the gain and seems to only subside when I turn down the volume. But I'll try the isolated power supply
Almost definitely a power supply issue. Especially if you're daisy-chaining pedals.
Try one of the Damnation Audio Loop Blenders maybe? A little clean blended back in will restore all the low end without loosing the aggression.
I finally got one of these beasts. Really like it a lot. The hype was founded.

Like I said, I could very well be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the original builder (the guy you posted) stopped making these years ago and passed on the plans to another company, who made them for a while and have seemingly stopped. I'm not a muff fan so I have no skin in the game, but I was interested somewhat in the genesis of the Bluebeard saga.Ahhh...
