Is it possible to have zero left hand noise when playing pizz? Is this a matter of getting the scoop/camper right on a fingerboard? When I left my fingers I get a clank/string noise when pizzing that drives me nuts. I have zero left hand string noise when using the bow. It shows up mostly when crossing between the A and E string. Since it shows up only when I am pizzing I think it may be set-up related rather than technique. Although I am generally of the school of, just play louder than the buzz I thought I'd check and see if this happens to other "jazz" players. Is this what's known as growl? If so, I hate it. I can't remember when it started showing up. I am lucky enough to have some serious practice time these days so am spending a lot of time recording myself and thinking about my acoustic sound.
I can make a quick video of what I am talking about if the above isn't clear.
