Google seems to think it's a Japan special. If I had to guess I'd say it's probably the regular bddi with a harder HPF in it, but below 60hz.

I live in Tokyo, and can confirm that major chain stores (e.g. Ikebe) are advertising it as Japan only. They also have some Japan-only vermillion red normal BDDI's that some folks might prefer over black.

More speculation, lots of small cabs in tiny apartments in Japan which sound arse with 5 strings.

I wish Tech 21 would add a mid control to the BDDI. I had Mike Putnum add one to mine and it just kills. I call it my RBI in a box. Takes the BDDI to another level IMO. Just kicks it up a notch. It would be interesting to see this LB on the scope to see what frequency changes have been made. And I'll second Mazdah in saying my BDDI has plenty of low end..........
