On page four there is a setting called SVT Bass. I don't know if I'd call it "SVT Modeling", but maybe it comes close to the SVT sound.

Tech21 also makes a SVT specific pedal called the VT:

I always thought the paradriver was for guitar, but that was just a complete assumption. Does it have the same guts, i.e. svt modeling? I just bought a Programmable BDDI, (waiting for it's arrival) so i've been reading all about them in anticipation.

Well, the Drive control is key to giving an SVT-like sound, but I don't think the SABDDI is intended specifically for that purpose. If it's SVT sound you're looking for, the SansAmp VT Bass gets pretty high marks for that around here. But neither of those two give you control over the mids like the ParaDriver, and I thought mids were the issue.

ah, reading though the manual to the paradriver, it looks like it is directed at many instruments, including bass. Whereas the Bass Driver is more Bass specific. I'd like to know what the difference is that makes the BDDI more bass specific.


On an other note, my Programmable BDDI arrived as I was typing this.

I have the blend set too 100% bassdriver (BDDI programmable) and it works really well for what I do and sounds great in the band. I think I have both the bass and treble boosted a bit, so it is scooped.

It depends a lot (!) on the bass though. While it works really well with my Stingray, it ate all the sound out from a Warwick Thumb I tested through it.

Having read into it, the Paradriver seems like a really good choice - it's weird I've never heard of it until it was mentioned in this thread. I noticed it is slightly more expensive than the BDDI and you can't get it in my country.

So since I will have to order this through the internet, I'd like to know, just to be a 100% sure: Is it awesome for bass? Does it suck out bottom or anything?

I simply ajust my amp's mid section when I feel the BDDI is too muddy for FOH. If I'm using an active bass or the Jazz with the Audere, I simply boost the mids on the bass and I get just enough to cut through

I've have had experience with both; think of the Paradriver as a Bassdriver with a midrange control. It certainly doesn't suck out low end. I think it works great for bass.

Same here. The no mids control was something that I thought was seriously lacking from the BDDI, but after seeing this thread I just bought myself the ParaDriver, time to see what this thing sounds like.

For you guys who are interested in the Para Driver, I've got one you can take off my hands if you want. It's great, but I'm going to try to hunt down it's predecessor (Sansamp Acoustic DI) because I don't need the "Drive" knob.
