Sansamp BDDI v2 question - Is this normal?

Just picked up a used BDDI v2 from GC and I just wanted to make sure this is normal while I’m still within the return window.

With the unit on, if the Blend is totally on the Sansamp side and the Drive is up high/maximum, I still get sound passed even when the Level is at zero. It’s distorted (the sound of the drive) and it’s below unity.

Just something I noticed while twiddling knobs and getting to know the unit. Sounds great, was immaculately clean and doesn’t look to have ever really been used. Just curious if this is normal or an indication that something might not be right under the hood.

Thanks!

I had the previous Bass Driver for years, and noticed a similar thing on the V2 when I got it.

They appear to have boosted the output quite a bit over the previous version which was definitely needed. However, that seems to have made it so that when the higher output SansAmp circuitry is blended in, there's always a bit of signal passing through. Even with the level turned down completely. And I have my drive set to about... 10 o'clock.

Actually went back to the store to check if it was faulty, but the other units had it as well. Learned to live with it, as it's not quite loud enough to be problematic, and it definitely needed the extra output.

So yeah, not faulty, just a design-choice!
