Sansamp BDDI Vs Darkglass B7K

I voted Darkglass even though I've never played one,,, I don't care much for the SansAmp.

The Aguilar ToneHammer pedal is pretty rad. It can do just about anything and sound good doing it... IMO.

2 total different flavors. Both great companies & pedals. BDDI pulls of the more vintage tones. BK7 has the more modern "metal" type of tone. IMO

I can get very Duff like tones with B7k set low gain low blend. I agree with comments that the Vintage Micro Tubes might even get you closer there easier.
The Sansamp for Frank Bello as that’s what he uses Duff’s live rig includes one as well but a lot of his sound comes from his GK amps & Fender P/J bass.
The Sansamp Steve Harris from the sound samples I’ve heard might get you the closest best combo of all those tones.

They are both great. I record in the bassment with both of them. Set to 12 o'clock, I would say the BDDI has more low end and the B7K has more forward articulation - if that makes any sense. Of course, you can adjust the two to be extremely similar. SamsAmp in particular has very sensitive adjustments IMO. A little goes a long ways when turning the knobs.

I was just seeing if I had actually used the same bass with both pedals for an apples-to-apples comparison. These aren't the polished YouTube videos recorded by a professional, they are just me playing around with an 8-track. The good is that the same bass (Ibanez EX405 with both pickups and tone dimed) and recording equipment is used on all the tracks so you can hear a bit of the difference in flavor.

BDDI:
Jack Attack (Right around 1:10 the guitar drops out and the bass carries the tune. I think this tone is very BDDI.)
The Watch (Here it is in a more metal setting with scooped guitar. Listen from 2:30 to 3:30 to get a full hearing of it in the mix.)

B7K:
Sharks (Guitar cuts out at 0:30 and the bass tone can be heard well.)
Achilles Heal (I don't a have an EX405/B7K recording with saturated guitars, but here is one with a different bass cutting through a lot of guitar [same guitar as The Watch] From 1:45 to 2:45 covers the range well.)

Sansamp always sounds like an ampeg with “ultra low” engaged. The DG stuff has a bump somewhere in the high mid that doesn’t work for me.

I think between the two products it really boils down to personal tone goals and sound preference. I voted SansAmp as the Tech21 products just get the sounds I like and they have always served me well.
