Satisfaction Tone

It's Sunday after a Saturday night gig. Do you ever feel that along with hitting the changes, getting the cues, really making music with your heart, that you nailed the tone you had in your head?

Do you feel that it sat in the mix, had every accent up front and present, a great balance of all your frequencies and loud enough with plenty of headroom to spare?

I'm basking in that afterglow.
Even though some of our audience vanished suddenly during the first set. Eastern Standard Time.

More often I find some reason while I'm playing to be dissatisfied with my tone, only to have audience members or the sound guy come up after the show to say that they thought my tone was excellent. Maybe the ones that thought my tone sucked are just being polite.
