Saw Interpol last night

I know they aren't the first band you'd think of when you think TB threads, but there are a few folks on here that recognize the great bass parts Carlos Dengler played.

I caught them in New Haven last night. As most know, Dengler parted ways with the band years ago. His touring replacement Brad Treaux did a phenomenal job on both nailing the parts and replicating the bass tone. Brad had been using a p-bass for years but seems to have finally switched to a jazz for a more faithful reproduction of the bands original sound. He also had a newer Yamaha BB in stealth black that he used for a song or two which I found very interesting.

Needless to say they absolutely killed it. The crowd had an electric energy that the band was very obviously feeding off of. They just sounded better and better with each consecutive song. By the end of the set the guys were are smiles and seemed genuinely humbled by the response they received. It always makes me happy to see a band that takes nothing for granted and appreciates their fan base no matter how big they get. They have always been one of my favorite bands and it was nice to see them up close in somewhat of an intimate venue.

They had an opener called Inner Wave from L.A. that were good too. Bassist was a young dude playing a j-bass with flats and a pick. Beautiful thumpy yet clear sound. Had some pretty catchy bass parts too.
