Speaking as someone who only plays bass (and not so great at that), the ability to play many other instruments at all is something I really admire.
I haven't tried sax yet, my "other main squeeze" is bass clarinet.

I love Dolphy and a current guy, Ken Thomson.
I "play" alto and by "play" I mean blow into it and make odd noises and at many other times induce the instrument to play notes which are (and quite amazingly, I may add) not known to exist on any musical staff known to mankind.
Well you're way beyond me, I'm more than a bit rusty and never really had jazz / solo chops. And taking 40+ years off didn't really help much either. Here's one of my first little improvising efforts.

Stand up! You'd have played that 38.9% better if you were standing. I can't think of a single film of a post-swing jazz sax player sitting down. Please don't make me unnecessarily namecheck a bunch of OG saxophonists. This is, after all, a bassist's forum.
Very nice tone, you worked for That, but it's hard for me to listen to because you sound out of breath All The Time you need to up your sax practice regimen up to 3 hours a day and show some commitment to putting some air through the horn.
I practice more the bass than the saxophone because the bass is not a noisy instrument.
In fact the tune was for a saxophone forum (tune of the month), it's the last take, the other ones I played all over the play-a-long up-tempo weren't so "good", I kept this one because the head was decent... You're right I was exhausted, I have played the tune for hours.
I'm a very laid back saxophonist so it sounds weird.

OP, you sound awesome! I have a c-melody that I goof around on occasionally, but you sound like a real player!
Oh ! I've got a cornet... no, I'm not kidding, for years I had played it very closed to the mic, that wasn't a good idea.
I don't play the cornet anymore.
Without a doubt! More and better swing. Absolutely.Now see? That was at least 38.95% better, obviously!
Had fun playing along, BTW. Being on the forum is masquerading as practice today.
