SBL trashes G&L

I'm saying a lot of YouTubers do starting with the classic YouTube clickbait thumbnails
You absolutely insinuated SBL as grifting by posting that comment in this thread.

They completely acknowledge and own their clickbaity thumbnails on their site as an unfortunate reality of the YouTube business model.

You don't think manufacturer's know how SBL reviews products by now?

Again, where's the grifting?

You made my point and they admit the "unfortunate reality of the YouTube business model" it wasn't a bashing of sbl, you are getting a bit excited over my comment and taking things a bit seriously.

Many times manufacturers of all types from vaping gear to phone cases pay YouTubers a few grand to say this new product is the best thing in the world! Add clickbait thumbnail, then next week a new product which is the same as the old comes out and rinse and repeat. Money dilutes honest reviews.

Idk why manufacturers send products to these grifters who are making crap loads of money on top of free merchandise.

Because times have changed and you fail to open your mind to notice it. Do you think the manufacturers are dumb? Their marketing department is headed by numbskulls? Paying or giving with no ROI? Let that sink in a bit.

You may not like what it is today, but this is what it is. Manufacturers see it, they embraced it. There are returns for them. These grifters show results for manufacturers.

You are right it does generate sales and people religiously follow YouTubers and believe everything they say as honest truth.
I have an open mind to question paid promotion vs honest reviews that's all.

I found this video refreshing, just their opinion, and light criticism. If you watch the last 100 bass the world videos everything is great because they are paid promotions. A few “job interview” style weaknesses i.e. this little thing could be better but that is it. I would hate for opinions other than it is amazing to leave bass youtube. Just like in sports where athletes are conditioned to give none answers to all interview questions to avoid issues.

We just need to be able to separate the chaff from the grain. Those who can't get conned, scammed etc. This is what it has been since the dawn of time. For me YT reviews are just entertainment. It kills time. I'm big into hifi, you gotta see how crazy it gets with hifi reviews. It makes SBL look like child's play. Lol!

Yeah, it is clickbaity. Most videos on youtube are, and I really don't blame them for that.

Do they "trash" G&L? Not in my opinion. I've been playing G&L for 20 years and I love their basses, but I do understand and kind of agree with their cons. I get that the control setup is a bit complicated and it takes time to get used to. It is super good and versatile when you get used to it, but it can also be quite confusing and take a lot of time to get comfortable with - and I think they show this quite well.

SBL has made it clear numerous times that their one and only sponsor is SBL.

I didn't conflate anything as I didn't compare Ed's videos to SBL. I said Ed's comments are one man's opinion. Disclosure- I've used Ed to do reviews on gear, most notably when I was the Genz Benz product manager. I'll use him again too.

No, what you said was...."His opinion though is still just one man's opinion." That's a loaded statement that infers a transfer of unearned validity to one, at the expense of the other. A comparison is infered by default. I believe that you didn't intend for it to be taken that way but sometimes syntax matters. Cheers.

Honestly, sounds like you need to take a breath and maybe go for a walk outside. Maybe touch some grass with your bare feet. You could gain some perspective on what’s worth getting worked up over. Ed Friedland vs SBL isn’t one of those things.

Edit: and neither is my opinion, on anything. I’m just one man.

Like the chifi reviewers.. it's just like the vaping channels of old. That stuff is really wild! Lol start a YouTube channel and Shenzhen sends you products and $3-$5k per review selling the exact "new" products that are the best thing in the world but just in a different color. 😂

Not just Chifi ... even the heritage brands fron US and UK. Seen way too many non-Chifi being exalted in an absurd manner. When I test those components in my system, I don't hear what those reviewers are sayin' lol. Oh well ...

I think sites like Talkbass might have more impact on lemming like behaviors. Day after day reading raves about the latest amp, bass, pedal etc can start to play with your perspective.

I almost bought an amp people were raving about in a “group” but fortunately had a chance to play thru two versions of it and decided it wasn’t for me. If I hadn’t found a friend who owned them I might have just gone off of Talkbass ravings.

I never would go off of one YouTube video though but at least you can hear the bass or amp.

That's also a good point. There's been quite a number of fad products over there years in every enthusiast forum where everyone is going crazy and has to buy this certain thing. Chifi iems again come to mind with the 7hertz timeless planars.

YouTube reviews are also a fun way to learn about stuff you'd otherwise never consider or know anything about.

But I have no use for reviewers who are only ever positive. It becomes difficult to learn what makes products different if every one is universally praised. The trouble is, as we see in this thread, a review offering any criticism is going to lead to anger from the people who own and love the thing being criticized, so I think that can drive reviewers to limit useful criticisms to avoid negative feedback.

Who's worked up? I'm calm as a cuke. Is that how you react when someone challenges one of your idols that you're shilling for? If you disagree with my perspective or think it's wrong, then man up and explain why.
