Don't Rics use a 33" scale? THAT must be why they sound like a**.....30" is too short. 35" is too long. I think 34" is perfect and I like 32". Never played a 33", if they exist but that would be cool too, like a Rolling Rock bass.

This made me laugh... so true! How many of those 'interesting' basses do you see in bar blues bands?I am interested in getting a short scale bass to put piccolo strings on for some unique 'solo artist' type of things...
34" feels *right* to me. I like to run the same on all my basses(excepting the DB)for consistency.
