Scallopping Frets

Thank you SomecallmeTim (great name by the way) I almost bought that action figure from Monty Python a few days ago to put on my desk. LOL.

One of these days I'm probably going to finish the rest of the board all the way down, do some wacky electronic stuff, coil splitting, series parallel switches (all passive of course) and stereo outputs... :)

I own the Yamaha Attitude basses and I like the scallops. I did contact Warmoth and ask if they can do that for bass and they said no. They do have a guitar neck for sale that's scalloped (to make yourself an Yngwie Strat). I would love to try a full scalloped neck myself. You can get some good vibrato without the wood; not to mention the string bending would be limitless.

If any bass builder can make a neck, somebody ley me know...

That's right, unfortunately we don't.

We've got a cool little Rube Goldberg-style machine that does it automatically on guitar necks, though. It has a fixed pattern for profiling a 25 1/2" fretboard and is not adjustable.

I shot a little movie of it working a while back. I thought you guys'd get a kick out of seeing it. Don't try it if you're on dial-up... it's about 1MB!
