Schecter Hellcat VI Strings

Hello,

Does Ernie Ball still produce Ernie Ball Hellcat VI Custom Strings (90-75-56-44-34-24)? On its website, that gauge is listed as specs by Schecter for its Hellcat VI six-string bass, short scale bass E to E.

Strings I received today are: Ernie ball custom gauge 2837 (90-74-54-42-30-20). Just curious which set was on the bass when I bought the bass new a year ago.

After a bit of research:

Hellcat VI design specs...90-75-56-44-34-24.

Looks like to match the design specs of the Hellcat, a person has to mix two sets:

D'Addario nickel wound EXL156...84-72-56-44-34-24
Ernie Ball nickel wound 2837...90-74-54-42-30-20

D'Addario for the E-B-G-D strings
Ernie Ball set for the A E strings

I haven't tried yet. But that might do the trick + eliminate this problem of the floppy low E string reported by some folks on the web using D'Addario set (84 gauge E string).

I'm using La Bella Hellcat strings for my Ibanez Crossover SRC6 (also a Bass VI breed). I chose the flat wound HC6-F. La Bella has nickel round (HC6-N) and stainless steel (HC6-S) versions also.

The gauge is the same for the 3 sets: 26-35-44-55-75-95.

Apparently Labella do not make those strings anymore. That's what they told me when I contacted them.

I did buy a set from a reseller the stainless steel round wound labelled as 767-6S (Same gauge as you mentioned). I liked the gauge size and the ease of bending the strings. However, I thought the strings created drag on the movement of the fingers and did not feel as comfortable. I might put them back on down the line.

The 767-6S set is the stainless steel round wound version. It's commonly known for stainless steel round wound strings to have a slight drag on finger movements. But IME with lots of stainless steel rounds, it'll be smoother along usages. La Bella also has the nickel round wound version 767-6N set and the flat wound version 767-6F set, which should have a smooth feeling on fingertips.

Yes, all the 767-6 sets have the same gauge as the Hellcat HC6 sets, but the winding length are a slightly longer than the HC6 sets, as they are meant for Fender Bass VI. I purchased a 767-6N set when searching the right strings for my Ibanez SRC6, but I didn't like the longer winding length of the .095 low-E caught on the tuning post.
